Loving life in Brussels!

Well Brussels is a VERY chic city and I really felt like a slob walking around there today hahaha. But before we go there we drove around the city of Waterloo (not the wretched Waterloo in Ontario!) hoping to find monuments historically related to Napoleon. Now that whole thing was quite a fiasco and we eventually gave up and just went to the hotel in Brussels. There are tons of antique-type shops in downtown Brussels but they are sooooooooo expensive. Everything here is very expensive for that matter. That being said though the city is VERY nice. I walked by a bunch of the palaces and cathedrals today and it was very enjoyable. I do find Brussels to be a VERY DANGEROUS city for me, not because I’m afraid of other people or anything, BUT because the food here, more specifically the desserts, are deadly – there’s an abundance of chocolates, waffles, and other tasty treats and that’s big trouble for me! I had an awesome Belgian waffle today. Tomorrow I’ll hit up the chocolate shops! Hopefully all the walking I plan on doing tomorrow will balance things, but I doubt it will!

I also came across a white guy on the street who was rapping (yes that’s what I said!) for spare change. And a couple other drunk guys walked by there and started ‘jamming’ with him as well. Now I couldn’t help but laugh seeing a bunch of white guys trying to rap in Brussels – just the idea of it seemed very funny to me! Anyways the city is REALLY nice and full of beautiful buildings and classy shops. Speaking of which I’m not sure if something special was going on today cause almost every antique shop in a certain area was open pretty late and people had big pots of candles outside their shop doors. I also went by a Mercedes dealer at like 10:00 pm and they were showcasing some of their cars…many of which you’ll never see in North America! Anyways got lots more to see tomorrow!
