Today was a great day! To begin with Peter and I caught a ferry to the UK from Belfast. I booked the 12:20 “FAST” ferry which was only supposed to take us about 2 hours BUT when we got to the check in it turned out that the ‘fast’ ferry wasn’t operating that day so we had to take the regular ferry which was like 4 hours! Now, in most situations that would be okay BUT it gets dark in the UK after 4 (really it does – very dark!) which worried me a little. We took the ferry anyways and I had a great nap on it hahahaha and also played around with this new thing I put on my laptop….it might take some getting used to BUT you should try it: http://www.desktopsidebar.com – it’s awesome! Anyways once we got to the dock in the UK we were on our way to Glasgow, which was around 150 km from this docking point. And oh man was it ever an interesting drive. I saw with my own eyes what FOG is really like in the UK and considering that the roads were sooooooooooo windy and the fact that we were like driving on hill next to the coast line it was a pretty scary drive. But I followed the nice lighted up lane shiny thingies and we eventually made it to Glasgow fine. Though the drive was kinda tough, the scenery on the way of rural Scotland was great! Anyways moving our stuff while it was pouring was also a very interesting story that I won’t get into – in the end we moved all our stuff in fine and let’s just leave it at that! After that we did some work and then I decided to head out and explore Glasgow. I went by all the major tourists attractions and then went around Bath Street, which is the main place for stuff to do at night. Surprisingly the streets were very busy considering it was Tuesday night. I went by this really cool night club which was in a building just like the Pantheon from Rome but the line up for it was way to long so I kept on walking. I went to the Glasgow School of Art which was supposed to be very nice architecturally but I though it was ugly haha. After looking around at other places for quite a while I found this place called King Tut’s which had a live band playing. I went in there and spent quite a while and it was really fun! Maybe there’s hope for my solo outings yet!!!! When the band stopped playing I hung out for a little longer and then went to this place that my guidebook recommended called Nice n’ Sleazy – you’ve gotta love the name! But don’t let the name fool you it wasn’t sleazy at all. I stayed there for a bit and then headed back to the hotel. It was really nice walking around in Glasgow even though for the whole time I was walking it was drizzling a little…but getting a little wet was actually kinda relaxing. Luckily it didn’t pouring though. Anyways that was the day – tomorrow we head to Edinburgh which I’m really looking forward too.
