So Barcelona has a REALLY awesome and relaxing atmosphere. A definite must for all of you (and maybe me?) planning to visit Europe when (and if!) you graduate. Anyways the drive through the downtown area here was pretty interesting cause the lanes are sooooooooo narrow. Nevertheless things worked out fine (i.e. I didn’t get in an accident!). We got to the hotel, which is again was very nice by the way, and the parking garage was, like the road, INCREDIBLY narrow so the garage guy actually helped me park the car hahahaha. Anyways after a few interesting parking spot changes I parked the car to a spot that was wide enough for me to actually get in and out of the car door, which is probably a good thing! We moved all our stuff and then met up with Yash from Pixelworks…he had to bring some equipment for us to use here. Up until this day I didn’t really know Yash too well as I had only met in briefly before I left but I’ve gotta say he’s a real nice guy and provided me with great company today. After we moved our stuff the three of us went for lunch. Yash had already been to Barcelona before so he recommended we try out Paella’s, which are similar to risotto or in simpler terms rice with some spices and with vegetables and meat (not for me though). Yash is also vegetarian which works out well for me as well hehehehe. Anywho the three of us found some place that had paellas and after a little bit of confusion with the waiters we ordered the paellas…which were pretty good. We then headed back to the hotel to do some work. I don’t know what went on when I plugged stuff in but we some how blew the fuse on the equipment Yash had brought. We figured this out after I whipped out the cheesy multimeter I had bought in Italy…I never had thought I’d actually use it! So now we had to find a new fuse for this damn box in a country I don’t remember how to say even ‘thank you’ in!!! After a lot of looking around and talking to interesting store keepers we wound up at some really good electronics store and bought what we needed. The store was incredibly cheap by European standards so that also gave us motivation to think of a few more things to buy just in case other things go wrong. After buying our stuff we headed back to the hotel and tried out the new fuse and it WORKED! So we did some work and then headed for dinner. We had a nice meal on the main street of Barcelona, La Rambla, and then toured the city and the night life for a bit. Barcelona is actually quite crazy when it comes to going out at night….most places here don’t get busy until like 2 or 3 am!!! We went to one club called New York, who’s slogan was “Black sounds from the underground”…which at the time I found very funny but I guess you’d have to be there to find it as funny as I did. We went there at like 1 am and they had an 8 EURO cover so before we paid them we were like will we be able to fit or is it too busy and they were like you’re the first people here – you should come back at like 3 am!!! Anyways after lots of walking, going in lots of circles, and picking up lots of flyer ads for different clubs, we found one place that seemed pretty busy considering how “early” it was in the night (1:30 am). The name of the place was called tequila or something and it was close to one of the city ports. And for those of you who are curious, yes there were lots of ‘hotties’ there… We hung out there for a while and then eventually headed back to the hotel. When we got back Peter and I did a little bit more work and then well that’s it. The day is done it is now 5 am here...I have no idea how I’ll wake up in time for breakfast tomorrow. It was fun meeting with Yash today though and nice to talk to him. The plan right now is to do some cite seeing tomorrow and have some more fun here!!!
