Rishi LOVES the Sheraton in Bilbao!

We journeyed to Bilbao, Spain today and decided to look around for some nice beaches in Porto before heading off. I asked a guy at the Holiday Inn where the most popular beach in Porto was and after getting his advice we headed there. Unfortunately I must have not mentioned to the hotel guy that I was looking for a beach to swim in! The place we went to had like oil tankers within visual distance of the shore and the only people we saw in the water there were surfer dudes (and dudettes!) in their full water gear. I’m a little confused why that hotel man told me to go here because we talked about the sand on the beach and stuff so why the hell would he recommend me a place that didn’t have swimming water. Anyways I also realized that Bilbao was like 750 km away from Porto so we decided to start heading there! The drive there was very grueling…but we eventually made it. On the way though I drove on some roads that we 2200 m in elevation and the roads themselves weren’t the greatest which freaked me out a bit…but overall it was OK, I guess. It was funny though how obscure the border was like when we entered Spain -- there was a just like a little wooden sign that read Espana. And it was actually weird how suddenly the whole land became a desert as soon as we entered Spain. We did however drive by this really cool mountainous region near the border that had a nice big body of water in the valley between the mountains but sadly I couldn’t stop the car to take some pictures because the roads were only one lane and there were cars behind me. Ah well what can you do? I continued the lengthy drive to Bilbao and had booked our stay there at a Sheraton. And oh my goodness this place was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccccceeeeeeeeeeeee. By far the nicest place we’ve stayed at yet and it was at a pretty cheap price! The lady at the reception also upgraded our room to a premium suite so it was awesome. I’ll post pics from the hotel soon. They are definitely worth seeing! Anyways as I mentioned the drive was quite long so I didn’t really do much once I got to the hotel. I did speak with James from Pixelworks though on the phone and apparently all the work we’ve done so far might be wrong!!! Apparently we’ve been using the wrong clock frequency on some our equipment so the data we’ve collected might not be completely valid. After talking things through though I think we’re okay (phew!) but that was a real scare. I also realized that today was Friday (for some reason I was under the impression today was Thursday), which would explain why so many people were walking around the street. Regardless though it has been a real long day so no going out for me tonight. Tomorrow I’ll see what there is to see in Bilbao!
