Well I’ve been in Frankfurt for the last few days and yesterday I was thinking that this place really wasn’t very special, just like any other big city, BUT today I enjoyed everything about Frankfurt quite a bit. However other than the colossal sky scrapers that adorn the city (which I liked a lot!) there isn’t a whole lot of “old” buildings to see, as most of them were demolished by bombshells during WWII. Anyways yesterday I did some exploring and Frankfurt and stopped off at a concert that was going on at a church -- that was very enjoyable. I also got caught up in the market shops that were set up through out the city center. I did much of the same today but spent some more time sight seeing. Even though the museums were free to go to I didn’t really spend much time in them, cause to be honest I’m pretty sick of seeing paintings! Anyways, I went to the 120th floor of the ‘main tower’ in Frankfurt and the view was absolutely fantastic…not bad for 3 EUROS! I’m a big fan of sky scrapers personally so going up 200m to the top of this building was a real highlight for me and I took tons of pictures while up there! Anyways after strolling around in the marketplaces a little longer I took the subway to a local Siddha Yoga mediation center that had a program going on today. It was a little hard following what people where saying during the program though, seeing how I don’t know ANY German…but the people were really nice and actually to accommodate me, translated most of what was being said to English. After that I sat around and chit chatted with some people there (with translation help of course!) and that was actually very fun. Overall I’ve found from my talks at bus stops and other tourist places, that Frankfurt really has very nice, honest people. And speaking of honest I’m amazed by the fact that in both Stuttgart and Frankfurt no one actually checks to see if you’ve bought your bus/train tickets – they just trust that you have (now I’m sure they do random checks but still that’s pretty cool)!!! I really like the idea of TRUSTING in other people. Anyways of all the cities I’ve been to so far, Frankfurt definitely has the most elaborate public transportation system and it is very efficient, I think at least. Anywho tomorrow we continue our adventures up north to Cologne.
By the way I'm having some trouble posting pics right now -- so stay tuned!
